Description

The leader of talent development/human resources function manages and coordinates efforts to recruit, hire, retain and develop a team that supports the overall vision and values of McPherson. This position conducts the full life cycle of recruitment in sourcing and supporting the best talent for McPherson, as well as maintaining effective policies and procedures for compliance, retention, promotion and succession planning. This individual will work closely with the Get Work, Do Work and Keep Score teams to assess and manage their talent needs as well as ensure proper compliance with policies and procedures is maintained across the Company. This person will also work closely with the Payroll Manager to lead and guide them to execute and assist with general talent needs, monitoring and tracking benefits, payroll and other human resources administration functions.


Key Areas of Role

Recruitment and Hiring

  • Recruit full-time, part-time, temporary and intern personnel
  • Maintain open positions internally and externally on all forms of media
  • Gather resumes and review/pre-screen
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews with hiring managers and possibly attend to take notes and provide feedback of results
  • Conduct thorough background and reference checks on selected candidates and communicate findings with hiring manager
  • Assist in preparing rejection or offer letters to candidates
  • Schedule and coordinate on-boarding process – meet and greet with candidate and introduce to team/schedule meetings with key personnel (management, team, payroll, etc.)
  • Develop appropriate marketing strategies (relationships with universities, tech schools, community) to attract external candidates and internal candidates to build a pipeline of qualified talent
  • Coordinate internship program for various positions throughout the organization

 

Benefits, Policies and Procedures

  • Assist in research of wages, salaries, benefits to ensure McPherson is in line with industry standards and make recommendations as needed
  • Maintain and update employee handbook/benefit information/on-boarding information to ensure accurate and relevant information is included
  • Create new and maintain current policies and programs and assure adherence and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Create and maintain job descriptions and develop profiles of positions
  • Work with payroll department to ensure various benefits are implemented and reflected in system

 

Development, Goals and Growth

  • Develop and coordinate the execution of the performance management/review process with managers and team to ensure thorough and consistent feedback and communication regarding personal and work related goals occurs on a regular basis
  • Ensure each team member is held to high standards related to quality, accountability, honesty and integrity
  • Develop standardized job descriptions and profiles for each position to be used as benchmarks and instruments in the performance evaluation
  • Document/retain review information and assist with promotion or dismissal processes as needed
  • Develop, initiate and maintain effective programs for workforce retention, promotion and succession planning to encourage organic growth
  • Conduct and assist with presentations, education and training programs to support key skill areas and related to top performance, opportunity and growth

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 5+ years of human resource experience
  • General knowledge of employment laws, regulations and compliance
  • Knowledge of basic HR generalist functions: benefit programs, compensation, hiring practices, etc.
